Hoshiarpur 22-02-2024, As per the instructions of Smt. Komal Mittal I.A.S., Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson, District Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Society, Hoshiarpur and Dr. Harbans Kaur, Deputy Medical Commissioner cum Member Secretary on the second day of Mission Smile, a Help Desk was set up at the Bus Stand Hoshiarpur with the support of Jasvir Singh, General Manager, Punjab Roadways, Hoshiarpur. Parshant Aadia, Counsellor District Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre Hoshiarpur, Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur Psychiatric Social Worker, Pro. Roopesh Kumar J.R. Govt. Polytechnic College Hoshiarpur, Ashwani Kumar Inspector Punjab Roadways, Satnam Singh Reocrd Keeper and Mahinder Singh Station Supervisor were present at this Help Desk. On this occasion Parshant Aadia, Counsellor District Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre Hoshiarpur said that he main objective of this Smile campaign is to create awareness among the masses at public places about the ill effects of drugs, causes of drug addiction and free treatment of drug addiction provided by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Punjab. If any person among the general public needs drug counselling then he can get his counselling done. The main objective of this campaign is to bring smile on the faces of public. Assistance under this campaign will be provided to those who voluntarily want to get out of the trap of drug addiction and improve his life . A smile and a ray of hope can be seen on the
face of the family of a drug addict through this campaign. On this occasion 105 persons visited the Help Desk, out of which 25 enquired about the treatment, Counselling was provided to 25 persons, 50 had already received treatment from Private De-addictions Centres and 5 from Govt. De-addiction centres. On this occasion Krishav Soni, Ishan Karan Singh, Abhi Kumar & Sucha Singh volunteers of Anti Drugs Team of Pt. J. R. Govt. Poly Technic College Hoshiarpur created awareness about the ill effects of Drug Abuse among the public.
